ABOUT THIS SESSION

Ever wondered what the full university journey looks like — from your first year as an undergrad all the way through to a PhD? This session follows someone who's done exactly that, sharing what each stage involves and how your thinking evolves along the way.

What you'll learn in this session:

What each stage of university study involves, from undergrad through to doctoral research
How your skills, confidence, and perspective evolve throughout the journey
Whether postgraduate study might be in your future and what it takes to get there

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Thomas is the creator of REFLECT, a music-supported virtual reality rehabilitation application that he is currently pilot trialling through his Doctoral degree at Flinders University. He also expanded his machine learning and software engineering skills as a Data Scientist at Aurizn, where he worked after completing his master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering (First Class).

Thomas' project experience includes assistive musical instrument design and development, motion capture analysis, prosthetic chicken leg design and assistive communication device conceptualisation. He has also completed a 5-month engineering practicum in Singapore, focusing on the implementation of multiple facial recognition algorithms.

Thomas hopes to apply his engineering, game development, and programmatic knowledge to progress the biomedical field through advancements in rehabilitation and assistive technology.
