The University of Queensland is a Group of Eight research-intensive university based in Brisbane, founded in 1909. Around 57,000 students study across its main St Lucia campus and specialist sites at Herston (health and medicine) and Gatton (agriculture and animal sciences). UQ is internationally known for biomedical research (its scientists co-developed the Gardasil HPV vaccine), and for strengths in medicine and health, engineering, environmental sciences, agriculture, business and the sciences. It is consistently ranked in the world's top 50 universities and has produced a long list of Rhodes Scholars and Nobel laureates.
