English Australia is the national peak body for the English language sector of international education in Australia, known as ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students). Founded in 1983 and based in Sydney, English Australia represents more than 120 member colleges across every Australian state and territory, including private providers and English centres attached to universities, TAFEs and high schools. Together its members teach about three quarters of all ELICOS students nationally. English Australia sets sector standards, advocates to government, and runs professional development for ELICOS teachers across the country.
