ABOUT THE PRESENTER

The University of Tasmania is the only university in Tasmania and has been part of the state’s story since 1890.

Around 29,000 students study across its main campuses in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie, as well as through Sydney campus and online learning options.

Its unique island setting shapes strengths in marine and Antarctic science, environmental science, agriculture, aquaculture, medicine, health sciences and creative arts.

The University is also home to the Australian Maritime College (AMC) in Launceston - Australia’s national centre for maritime education, training and research.

The University is recognised globally for sustainability, ranked #1 in the world for Climate Action for the fourth year in a row, #1 in the world for Life on Land, and #4 overall globally in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.
