James Cook University (JCU) is a public university in North Queensland, Australia. The second oldest university in Queensland, JCU is a teaching and research institution. The university’s main campuses are located in the tropical cities of Cairns and Townsville, there is also a campus in Brisbane and Singapore, with study centres in Mackay, Emerald, Thursday Island and Mount Isa.

 ABOUT THE PRESENTER 

Elizabeth Kalas is a Future Student Advisor based in Cairns (Ngama Bada) and works closely with schools and communities to support students as they explore their post-school pathways and career aspirations. In her role, she delivers presentations, attends events, and builds genuine connections to help students feel informed, confident, and excited about what’s ahead!

Passionate about creating opportunities and empowering young people and community, Elizabeth loves connecting with students to discover not only what truly lights them up, but being there for those all-important “you’ve got this” moments along the way.
